According to the church tradition, the basis of the non-creational image of Jesus Christ is the imprint of His face on the towel, which was formed at the moment when the Savior wiped his face. Therefore, this icon is revered in a special way primarily as its lifetime image. Before this way, the words of the daily prayer are soundly permeated: "Do not turn your face away from us ..." when the prayer seeketh God's presence and God's grace for himself in every minute of his life.
