This is a copy of the icon “Our Lady of Czestochowa”. The icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa has been intimately associated with Poland for the past 600 years. Its history prior to its arrival in Poland is shrouded in numerous legends which trace the icon's origin to St. Luke who painted it on a cedar table top from the house of the Holy Family. While the Virgin of Czestochowa is generally viewed as a "Polish" icon, it is very popular among Orthodox Christians. The icon, also known as the is also very popular among the Haitian people. The Czestochowa icon is also called the Queen of Poland as a sign of deep respect.

OUR TECHNIQUE
In our production of icons, we employ original techniques dating back to ancient monasteries including those of the monastery of St. Pantaleon, always using the best possible tools. Our icons are created on a traditional wooden base and are set in levkas, a chalk-based natural glue and background. The icon is printed on a silk canvas.
